Electrical repairs in Los Angeles

Breaker keeps tripping? Outlet stopped working? Need a panel upgrade or an EV charger? Describe the job and get connected with a licensed electrician who works in your part of LA.

Request an electricianFree to request. No obligation.

Before you call: three quick checks

  1. Check the panel. A breaker in the middle position, or flipped the other way from the rest, has tripped. Push it fully off, then back on.
  2. Reset GFCI outlets. Outlets with Test and Reset buttons protect kitchens, baths, garages and outdoor outlets. One tripped GFCI can cut power to several outlets.
  3. Unplug what is on the circuit. If the breaker trips again right away, leave it off and get it checked.

Smell burning, see sparks or feel heat at an outlet or panel? Turn the breaker off if it is safe to reach and do not use that circuit.

Hiring an electrician in LA

In California, electrical jobs above the state's small-job limit must be done by a contractor holding a C-10 electrical license from the Contractors State License Board. You can look up any license number on the CSLB website before you sign anything.

Work such as new circuits, panel changes and EV chargers usually needs a permit from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS). A licensed electrician normally pulls the permit and schedules the inspection.

Ask for a written quote that lists the scope, the permit, and the timeline, and keep a copy once the job is done.
